Buy or Sell: Yahoo! Top 25
Week two is underway and there are plenty of big and plenty of small numbers being put up around the league. As the season goes on and sample sizes grow, the numbers will nurmalize. So who is the real deal? Let's look at Yahoo!'s top 25 rankings as of Tuesday and see who to buy and who to sell.
Fantasy Recap 4/12
Jose Guillen is now among the league leaders in home runs after hitting his third of the season Monday. Guillen's career high in home runs is 31, but that came back in 2003. However, aside from last season, Guillen had been a consistent 20-home run bat.
In deeper leagues Guillen is worth an add, but bear in mind that he can be an extremely streaky player.
Cubs second baseman Jeff Baker got the start against left-handed pitcher Doug Davis and promptly hit his second home run of the season. Baker has some decent pop, he hit 12 home runs for the Rockies in 333 at-bats in 2008, but he'll likely be limited to action against left-handed pitching and strikes out a bit too much to carry a high AVG for an entire season.
Fantasy Recap 4/11
Indians closer Chris Perez blew the save Sunday, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks. After Neftali Feliz took the closers job from Frank Francisco, this blown save just adds to the list of possible turnover coming this season. Perez had a chance to keep the job even when Kerry Wood returns from injury, but outings like these sure don't help.
Death Taxes and Closer Turnover: This Could Get Messy

On draft day 2010, the closer ranks were as thin as they had been in years. Joe Nathan went down early making matters even worse. Kerry Wood, fresh off of a sub par season, started the season on the DL and Houston Street has been moving along at a snails pace, recovering from a shoulder strain.
Then you have the Ryan Franklin's of the world who owners just don't trust.
Already this season we've seen closers blow saves like they were going out of style. Jonathan Papelbon, Joakim Soria, Jose Valverde, Frank Francisco, Jason Frasor, Rafael Soriano, Mike Gonzalez (twice!), etc.
If you enjoy chasing saves (and pain) then you may be having a little bit more fun this season because things could be getting very messy very quickly.
Justin Masterson's Movement
One start in the books for Justin Masterson. Five innings, four hits, two walks and five strikeouts allowing only one earned run.
Last season, Between the Red Sox and Indians, Masterson put up 119 strikeouts in 129.1 innings (8.28 K/9). While much of that work came out of the bullpen for the Red Sox, it did give us an indication of what type of potential Masterson had should he harness his command.
Fantasy Recap 4/8
Today marks the first Fantasy Recap of the season. In this series, Monday through Friday every week, I’ll pick out the most noteworthy fantasy related news from the previous day’s action. This will be an easy way for readers to get a leg up on pickups and players to avoid.
Let’s look back on Thursday’s action.
Pitching Questions: Sheets, Carmona
Ben Sheets is coming back after missing a full year due to injury. Fausto Carmona is riding high after great spring numbers, but is also coming off of two straight disappointing seasons. What can one outing tell us about these pitchers? Not everything, but there here are a few notes to keep an eye on.
Week One Pickups
The season is going forward at full speed and so are fantasy teams. It's way too early to panic, but there are some players out there that could be worth an early season add.
