Quick Fire: Hamilton out 6-8 weeks
One of the reasons Josh Hamilton was an early round risk on draft day 2011: Injuries. Well, that has come into play early in the season and now you need a replacement. Here's a quick fire list of players that might be available in your league.
All players under 30% owned in Yahoo! leagues.
David Murphy - He's the logical choice to take over playing time with Hamilton out. He came into today hitting over .400, but had only faced one left-handed pitcher thus far.
Josh Willingham - The three HR's on the year are a good sign that he could hit 15-20 more the rest of the way. Look for his AVG to finish in the .265-.275 range, but with a good amount of RBI chances hitting in the middle of Oakland's lineup.
Cameron Maybin - He has two homers and three steals so far. If he can stay on that sort of pace, he could approach a 15/20 or better season.
Matt LaPorta - Looks healthy in the early going. Could be a source of 20-plus bombs, but with little AVG-wise.
Michael Brantley - Only 7% owned in Yahoo leagues and hitting .306 with two steals already. He stole 50 bases between Triple-A and MLB in 2009 and 23 between the two levels last season. Battling leadoff for a lineup that looks like it could produce some nice run totals in 2011.
Seth Smith - On fire of late hitting .367 with a home run. He has .280-.290, 20-plus home run potential.
