The season is going forward at full speed and so are fantasy teams. It's way too early to panic, but there are some players out there that could be worth an early season add.
Using Yahoo! owned percentages...
Franklin Gutierrez - with 18 home runs and 16 steals last season, Gutierrez was knocking on the door of a 20/20 season. He's been moving around in the Seattle lineup, but has hit third twice so far.
Juan Pierre - While Pierre hasn't been getting hits early this season, he already has two stolen bases. Teams looking for big time stolen base numbers need to add Pierre before his average picks up.
Shaun Marcum - Marcum took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against Texas in his first start. Based on what he showed, he should be a decent back-end option. However, there could be some innings limitations this season, which means that owners should get what they can early.
Kyle Blanks - His raw power should result in an easy 20-plus home runs. Even if the Padres lineup isn't great, Blanks is hitting fourth behind Adrian Gonzalez. That could translate into 90-plus RBI's when all is said and done.
J.J. Hardy - Seriously, he should be universally owned. After hitting two home runs early on, this could shape up to be a bounce back season for Hardy, who was a consistent source of a .270-plus AVG and 20-plus home runs before last season.
Nick Johnson - He may not have a hit, but he's getting on base like he always does. Before long that OBP will turn into a bunch of runs scored hitting second in a loaded Yankees lineup.
Carl Pavano - As crazy as it sounds, Pavano could be a surprise pitcher this season. He showed a little of that against the Angels last night. His great command combined with a good defense behind him should help his number big time this season.
